My Dad the Daredevil

Honestly, I never thought, ever, that my dad would jump out of a plane. Oh sure, he's been known to do many a crazy thing, like swing from a chandelier, but that was in college..... or so the story goes. But recently he was offered, along with several other South Florida mayors, to go skydiving with the Army Golden Knights. Hey if you're going to do it, you might as well do it with the best. It was for a good cause. Previous to the jump the mayors signed a community covenant supporting the Armed Forces recruiting efforts here in our community. Have to admit I was way jealous.... add it to my bucket list!

Ready to Go!

Does he look scared?

Camera man falls out first

The little parachute slows you to a mere 200 mph, or somthing like that

It's a bird, It's a plane....

Would you look at all that sprawl!

Lamar's 42nd Birthday

We celebrated Lamar's birthday with (what else!) sushi, followed by a party at Bougainvillea's in South Miami. I love Bougainvillea's. It is this "Old Florida" bar that is in an old house. It has great character compared to many of today's popular hangouts, so we try to go there regularly and support their business. It's also one of the few places that showcases local musicians. A very talented friend of mine also took pictures from that night, and I will post some of hers on here later. But for now, a few shots from the evening's festivities....
The night started out at Ra, a sushi restaurant in downtown South Miami

Why is it I'm always getting into trouble at Bougainvillea's with these two??

Mother's Day 2010

Mother's Day started out with church (naturally) followed by a lovely brunch at my brother's house where he cooked up a great meal for us. Ceci's mom joined us as did Ruth. Ruth is like family, as she has been a friend of the family at least since I was 7 or 8 years old. I couldn't believe how fascinated Julia was with Don and Ceci's dog Maggie. I would have thought that she would have been scared of her because she's so big, but she was all over her!

Babo and Mimi with Olivia

Olivia getting some sage advice from Babo, I'm sure. They're probably talking about which college she should apply to.
